Many people ask me where I get my inspiration for my books and that is such an easy question to answer! Most of my ideas come from conversations with my four-year-old daughter. She is at the stage where she asks lots of questions and we have a lot of silly conversations. For instance, while driving home one night my daughter started talking about the stars. The stars led to flying, and flying led to the question of “Where would you fly to?”. This is when the peculiar book Magic Flying Boots was born.
Writing inspiration is all around us! When I’m waiting in line for coffee, at the grocery store, or hanging out at the park, I watch the adults and children around me and take notice of how they act. A simple conversation can lead to a mountain of book ideas. So get out there, take a look around, put the phone down, and start coming up with your own ideas!
